The Lights
250,000+ Lights. One Unforgettable Christmas Display.
Each holiday season, Council Gap Court transforms into a glowing canopy of color, with more than 250,000 Christmas lights stretching across the home, yard, driveway, and towering trees above.
The result is part neighborhood tradition, part engineering project, and part Christmas wonderland.
From the moment you turn onto the street, the display is designed to surround you.
A Display That Goes Up — Way Up
What makes the Grandinetti Christmas Lights so recognizable is the height.
Rather than stopping at the roofline, strands of lights climb deep into the surrounding trees, creating a massive overhead curtain of color. Some of the illuminated trees reach approximately 150 feet, making the display visible from far down the street.
Those towering strands create the signature look visitors remember most — a glowing “waterfall” of lights suspended above the property.

How Do the Lights Get That High?
It’s one of the most common questions we hear.
The answer: a fishing rod, fishing line, and a lot of patience.
A weighted socket is cast high into the trees using a fishing rod. Once the line passes over the desired branch, it is used to pull the light strand into position.
The process is repeated again and again until hundreds of strands form the cascading canopy you see above Council Gap Court.
There is no crane hiding behind the house — just a creative method that has been refined over years of building the display.
More Than Just Strands of Lights
The display is made up of layers.
Towering illuminated trees create the backdrop, while the house, driveway, landscaping, and yard are filled with additional lighting and Christmas figures.
Visitors can expect to see elements like:
-
cascading multicolor tree lights
-
illuminated reindeer and holiday figures
-
glowing candy-cane borders
-
decorated shrubs and landscaping
-
roofline and architectural lighting
-
Christmas trees, wreaths, and seasonal displays
-
changing details and additions from year to year
No two viewing angles feel exactly the same.
